with the theme being 'uniform', many came in their previous school's uniform.. it was a cool mix of jcs and sec schs uniform. not forgetting those who came in their army uniforms, and a special mention goes out to xiaoxuan for coming in npcc uniform complete with beret!

we were also graced by the presence of alumni members, dr mak (our outgoing conductor) and shyan-hwei (our cfa officer in charge of nusws).

the food was great! cheese cakes, free flow of lemon tea, hot tea/coffee, fruits and other various niceties, it can be said that everyone is satisfied! =)

there were people playing card games (bridge, taiti, snap), drinking and chatting away. but the one of the highlights of the night is the inter-section pool competition. played in a knock-out format, the band members displayed their skills (or for some, like me, the lackof, haha) in pool. there were exciting games and some long-drawn out ones, prompting derek, our superb host for the night, to remind the players to pocket the balls instead of just moving them about the pool table.

a definite highlight is the friendly match between dr mak/shyan-hwei and cloud/meiling, held before the finals of the inter-section pool challenge. dr mak wow-ed us with his excellent pool skills; he practically cleared the table!

finally, the pool finals itself, pitting the sax section (alison/firdaus) against trombone/euphonium(giam/yokes) section. the former reaching the finals thru pluckiness and luck (cos sections who sent their better players in the earlier rounds were not allowed to re-use those players, haha), while the latter more based on skill(i think, haha). finally, trombone/euphonium section won and received a bottle of vodka as their prize(which giam brought home, haha).

nearing the end of dnd, there was an inter-section drinking game, where the last section to finish a pint of tiger beer must do a forfeit (kudos goes out to alison and xiaoxuan for finishing the drink! sorry i cannot drink, haha). darryl impressed us with his drinking skills, gulping down one pint of beer in less than 30 seconds!

finally, there was an "award" ceremony where everyone voted thru pasting pieces of scotchtapes on their preferred nominees. suspicions of cheating arose when there were more stickers on a nominee than the total number of people present for the dnd! haha.. but it was held in good spirit and fun, and here are the results!:

best uniform: ruixiang (due to the overwhelming number of clarinet votes!)
most chio: alison
most committed: dr mak
best body: cloud (due to sexiest butt, haha)

all in all, it was a great dnd. special mention has to go out to derek, the main organizer and the host cum runner of the dnd. his wit and antics made the night fun for all. thank you to everyone who came and sportingly participated in the activities. here's hoping for more good times to come for nusws! i will end this entry by leaving you with the extremely difficult task of finding the 2 camouflaged guys hiding somewhere in the picture!

see u at the next dnd! =)
