  NUSWS Sax Ensemble Gig (18/9/06)
a first time ever for sax section.. a gig! haha.. it was the arts fac prize presentation ceremony.. after days of practice and stress, finally the day had arrived. we started our last rehearsal at 2+pm, and starting moving the drumset, stands and instruments to LT8 at 3.30pm. for the first time ever, we transported everything in a taxi, haha.. do you know you can fit the bass drum into the backseat of a car? =p

our performance was very well-received! we played first love and lemon tree to good applause. hopefully this is a sign of future gigs to come our way! =) highlight of the day was after the gig, at around 9pm.. when, failing to find a cab, we asked the caterer of the event if he can help us transport back everything to cfa, and he agreed! it was damn hot inside the truck lah, haha.. and he refused to accept any pay! so nice right?! ahha..

after packing, etc.. we went to sharon's room at eusoffe to collect stuff and chit-chat. after that me and nanda went back while the rest went to rochester park for some drinks. it had been a very long and tiring day.. but fruitful and interesting nonetheless!! =)

  NUSWS Welcome Tea (17/8/06)
wow! so many freshies and new faces in the band during the last practise! it was the official NUSWS welcome tea for freshies and the turnout was great! the auditorium was brimming with maximum capacity and lotsa senior players had to forgo their instruments and let the freshies take the centre stage for the day!

the combined band played hymn to the infinite sky, sanctuary and bayou breakdown! the sound was decent, considering the band was 80% freshies! =)

following the combined band prac, there was reception. nice sumptuous food! following which were games to get everyone acquainted with each other. hope everyone had a good time! here's looking forward to good times ahead and a successful october concert!! =p

a commentary of my time in NUSWS. this blog is not intended as the official voice of NUSWS or NUS. just a member giving his views on the going ons in the band. some of the comments may not be pretty, but discussions are encouraged so that we can further improve the band. if there is any band matter you want to bring up to the exco or put in this blog, feel free to contact me or leave a comment. until then, take care!
