it was still dark and the cool air reminded us that it was only 6am, our reporting time at UCC. members began to arrive, and judging from their sleepy faces, most had been watching the world cup match (france vs portugal) the night before, hehe.. UCC was bathed in bright lights and decorations marking the prestigious commencement ceremony.
the stage was all set for us at the porch outside the main entrance, so at 6+am, still sleepy, we trooped to the room where the instruments were being kept the night before and began setting up our instruments and also the percussion instruments.

following which.. we had to hang around the area so that the police can do a bomb sweep and conduct securiy checks. we waited from around 7am to 10+am? haha.. well, being musicians, we practised/chit-chatted/played other people's instruments/read books. some even slept! haha..
some reprieve came at around 10am when refreshments came.. mineral water and curry puffs from old chang kee! following that we prepared ourselves for the start of our performance. we played spring march, music of the beatles, bahn frei and 76 trombones and a few more. the band sounded good! (in spite of the tiredness and sleepyness, haha..) the hard practices and conscientious music-making on everybody's part paid off!
following the brief performance, we started making our way back to cfa to keep our instruments.
even though it had been a long day (6am-11am), i think everyone
had a good time. the long hours waiting had certainly helped the band bond more as we chit-chatted and did other stuffs to pass the time. the band sounded good as well! i think the people who heard us were impressed! good job everyone! may next year's performance be even better!
NUSWS rulz! =)
